Can’t believe it’s already December and the holidays are here! 2024 flew by so fast. Anyway, this is my last concept of the year, called North Star.

To me, the shape of the North Star is simple yet meaningful [1], [2], [3]. It has a central core (like a pseudo-sphere) with rays extending outward, visually resembling the evolution of sound waves. It represents movement (the nature of light), speed (the fast travel of light), and balance (the core of the star, equalizing its glow and radiance). The inspiration for this design comes from [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9].

I reimagined the shape architecturally using a lattice structure. Why a lattice? Simply because the star’s core shape has natural symmetry along the Z+ and Z- axes, with rays extending through space. This symmetry inspired me to create a truss-like design that feels both strong and elegant—reflecting the North Star’s abstract essence.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to explore advanced modeling techniques like algorithmic design and SubD workflows. Happy holidays, everyone!
